Beloved,
The Black church has long been the champion of voting rights. North Georgia Black Methodists for Church Renewal (NGBMCR) has consistently advocated for 100% voter participation, our 2020 advocacy emphasis. We thank everyone who participated during the Primaries and General Election. Whether you worked the polls, phone banks, a specific campaign or cast your ballot, we thank you. However, we have more work to do. Through our Advocacy Committee, we are once again seeking active participation in the Run-Off Elections for two Senate Seats and Public Service Commissioner.
We are asking every historically and/or traditionally Black UMC Church as a symbol of our connection to place the following words on the church’s marquee: “Voting is Good Stewardship.” We have an accompanying digital flyer to place on your website, circulate among your congregation and contacts. Our purpose is to utilize our church buildings and existing networks to get Souls to the Polls, while maintaining social distance with a unifying message consistent with the Gospel and our Social Principles. Early Voting has begun. We hope you will join us with a sense of urgency.
We continually pray for your life, health and strength. And we look forward to when we all get together...what a time!
Trusting God to completion,
DuWanna Thomas
